CU1 - Interpret the Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) Framework

Target Audience

This course is suitable for those who are moving into the training arena with little or zero knowledge in this field. It is also suitable for full or part-time in-house trainers, training consultants, assessment developers and assessors.

Course Overview

Competency unit 1 is one of the required competency units in order to obtain an Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment (ACTA). This course specifies the competencies required of an individual to interpret the Singapore Workforce Skills Qualification (WSQ) Framework and a set of National Competency Standard as well as applying them in the learning and development context.

Course Duration

10 hours (including 2 hours assessment)

Assessment

Participants are required to attend a final assessment comprising of written test (2 hours). The final assessment is held about 1 week after the course. The answer scripts are to be marked by the participants’ facilitator or other independent assessor assigned by NTUC LearningHub. Assessment is to be conducted in the classroom, equipped with the necessary equipments.

  • Describe the WSQ Framework, its objectives and principles
  • Interpret the key components of WSQ Framework
  • List the 3 types of skills addressed by WSQ Framework
  • Describe the characteristics and benefits of WSQ training programmes
  • Explain “competency” and its dimensions
  • Interpret a competency standard
  • Contextualise a competency standard to meet legal, industry and organisational requirements
  • Recommend the use of WSQ Framework for learning and development

Participants who signed up for this competency unit are required to have the following skills and knowledge, equivalent to Employability Skills System:

  • Workplace ICT skills
  • Workplace Literacy Level 8
  • Workplace Numeracy Level 7
