Course Overview

The Singapore Employability Skills System (ESS) is a training initiative by the Workforce Development Agency (WDA) to prepare all levels of the Singapore workforce to remain employable and competitive. NTUC LearningHub Pte Ltd is proud to be a WDA ESS training provider.

ESS offers training in Workplace Literacy Series, Workplace Numeracy Series and Workplace Skills Series (Operations, Supervisory and Managerial levels). These essential skills can be used in every industry and enable workers to be more employable and to better adapt to new job demands and challenges.

ESS is now recognised by more than 300 companies in Singapore as an alternative to formal academic qualifications like the 'N' and 'O' levels, which are commonly used as entry criteria into occupations, and training programmes.

All trainees for Workplace Literacy (WPL) are required to sit for a Pre-Computer Adaptive Test (CAT) assessment to evaluate their language proficiency levels – beginner, Intermediate or Advance.

This assessment is computer-based and takes about three hours to complete. It consist of three multiple choice question components - numeracy, reading and listening.

After the completion of the training, all trainees are required to sit for a Post-Computer Adaptive Test (CAT) assessment.

Certification

After the completion and assessment of each training module, participants will received a formal recognition through the award of a Statement of Attainment (SOA) from the Workforce Development Agency (WDA). The SOA is a nationally-recognized qualification by WDA indicating the participant's ability of competence in a particular area to perform a task appropriate to her/his occupational level and work demands.

A total of 10 SOAs are required to achieve the Career Readiness Certificate (CRC). The CRC is a national qualification under the Singapore Workforce Skills Qualification (WSQ) system where it recognizes the participants' achievement in attaining the foundational generic employability skills.
