Target Audience

This course develops the learners' Basic English skills for everyday life. It is targeted at learners with zero-understanding or those with a little knowledge of the English Language.

At the end of this course, learners will be able to:

use a range of everyday social and workplace expressions

handle effective telephone techniques

interpret schedules and instructions

use vocabulary and grammar skills by guessing the meaning from context

understand and read multi-word verbs

understand how sentences are formed

• Converse effectively about daily activities and events in the workplace
• Tell the time, dates, days and months and understand money amounts
• Ask for and give directions
• Take and interpret workplace instructions
• Interpret work-related documents and procedures
• Understand and complete simple forms
• Answer phone calls and take simple messages
• Interpret simple health care and work safety regulations
