Course Overview

The course discusses the core of ‘Safety’ and ‘Security’ of supply chain security management and introduced various international, regional and national supply chain security instruments and programmes implemented by US and Europe for today’s transport chain.

At the end of the Course, participants will be able to:
- Describe current safety and security measures used in his daily practices as a Freight Forwarder.
- Explain the difference between safety and security.
- List and describe existing security initiatives and programs (AMS, BTA, CSI, C-TPAT, FAST, ISPS Code, TAPA-EMEA, CDI-MPC, ISOPAS 28000, AEO and CSP) in the transport chain, taking into account the different modes of transport.
- List and describe the safety and quality assessment system (SQAS).

1 day: 8.30am to 6.30 pm (8.5 hours)

Course Outline

Designed specifically according to FIATA (International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations) Minimum Standard (FMST), the course introduces participants to basic knowledge of international safety and security programs for freight logistics industry.

It comprises the following topics:
- Introduction to, and concept of 'Safety' and 'Security'
- Security in the Transport Chain
- Security Programs – AMS, BTA (Bioterrorism Act ), CSI, C-TPAT, FAST, ISPS Code, TAPA-EMEA, CDI-MPC, ISO/PAS 28000
- AEO Concept and CSP (Customs Security Programme)
- SQAS (Safety & Quality Assessment System )

Funding Info

The course is an Approved-in-Principle (AIP) course under the SDF EasyNet with a support level of $7.00 per training hour. (Please note that the AIP status is subjected to renewal by the Skills Development Fund.) Sponsoring companies who fulfill the following criteria, are required to pay only the unsupported portion of the course fee to association :

- Participants must be Singaporeans or Permanent Residents or 3-year Work Permit Holders.
- Companies must be registered in Singapore and bear the full training cost.
- Only company cheques are allowed for payment of course fees.

As the association endeavour to qualify the course for renewal of AIP status each year, all sponsoring companies are required to sign a letter of undertaking in which they will undertake to bear the portion supported by the Skills Development Fund to the association should their sponsored staff fail to achieve 75% attendance and/or are absent from the examination.
