Target Audience

This is a compulsory security training course for anyone who wants to start a career as a Security Officer.

Course Overview

This module provides trainee with the knowledge and skills in providing guard and patrol services. The mandatory training is made up of 2 licensing units, Provide Guard and Patrol Services & Handle Security Incidents and Services. Upon completion of this module, trainee will be equipped with the necessary and relevant knowledge and skill sets as a Security Officer in handling security incidents and services confidently.

Course Duration

40 hours (5 Days) include assessment hours

Assessment

An assessment (a total of 4 hours 30 minutes for 2 modules) will be conducted at the end of the each module by POLWEL

Course Outline

Provide Guard and Patrol Services

• Preparing work activities
• Guarding static positions
• Handling telephone calls and lost-and-found properties
• Patrolling premises
• Making reports and hand-over duties

Handle Security Incidents and Services

• Containing incidents of damage to facilities and equipment
• Handling fire-related incidents
• Handling crime-related incident
• Handling medical or first-aid related incidents
• Handle bomb or IED (Improvised Explosive Device) threat incident
• Searching, apprehending and arresting suspect
• Giving evidence in court

Pre-requisites

Minimum secondary 2 education
OR
Participants with the following competency ratings from the Employability Skills System are eligible:
Listening/Speaking Min. Level 4
Reading/Writing Min. Level 4
Numeracy Min. Level 4
OR
Participants may also be required to undergo a pre-qualifying test during registration.
